HOW TO OBTAIN A COPY OF A BIRTH, MARRIAGE
OR DEATH CERTIFICATE

Certified copies of birth, marriage and death records are available from the Town Clerk's Office in Randolph Town Hall and the state Registry of Vital Records and Statistics. Copies of vital records may be obtained in person or by mail. Cash, Money Orders and checks are accepted for payment.

By Mail: Provide the name of the subject(s) of the record and the date of the event and mail your request to:

Note that ONLY CERTIFIED COPIES of records are issued by the Town of Randolph regardless of intended use.  Make your check or money order payable to "The Town of Randolph". Enclose a business-size self-addressed stamped envelope.

Birth Certificates
The Randolph Town Clerk will have birth records of anyone whose parents lived in Randolph at the time of the birth. A long form birth certificate is available for $5.00. The long form is required for passports, immigration and other legal purposes and includes the parents' names and their place of birth. 

Marriage Certificates
The Clerk's Office will only have marriage records of any couple who filed their marriage intentions in Randolph.  We do not have the marriage certificates for couples that lived in Randolph at the time of the marriage or couples whom marriage ceremony took place in Randolph unless they filed the original marriage intention in our office. A certified copy of a marriage certificate is available for $5.00. The marriage certificate contains the couples' parents' names and is required for most legal purposes.

Death Certificates
The Clerk's Office will have death records of any death that occurred in Randolph and copies of records of Randolph residents whose death has occurred within the State of Massachusetts.  The fee for a certified copy of a death certificate is $5.00.

Access Policy for Massachusetts Vital Records :  Access to restricted birth and
marriage records are limited by §2A, Chapter 46, M.G.L. For those persons with access
to restricted records, proof of identity (a photo ID) is necessary, and in some cases
additional documentation is also necessary. Access to persons other than listed below
require a court order. For mail orders, include your ID and documentation (if necessary)
with your order form.

Out-of-Wedlock Births: Access to non-marital (out-of-wedlock) births is limited by §2A,
Chapter 46, M.G.L. to the following:

- Subject of the record (child)
- Parents listed on the record
- Legal guardian of the child
- Legal representative of the child

Marriages of Person Born Out-of-Wedlock: Access to marriage certificates when the
bride or groom was born out-of-wedlock is limited by §2A, Chapter 46, M.G.L. to the
following:

- Bride or groom
- Legal representative of the bride or groom
- Parent or guardian of the bride or groom


The State Registry of Vital Records and Statistics
If you are not sure whether the record you seek is filed locally, you may contact the state Registry of Vital Records and Statistics. The Registry maintains a central index and has copies of records for all births, marriages and deaths which occurred in the state.
Certified copies may be obtained through the Registry in person, by mail or by phone. Regardless of how you request copies, you should be prepared to provide the name of the subject(s) of the record, the date of the event and, if known, the city or town where the event occurred.
